It Starts with a Mother

This Mother’s Day, I’ve been reflecting on what it means to be both a mom and a woman who leads. Not in the title-driven sense of leadership — but the kind of leadership we show daily: holding space, showing up, making hard decisions, and doing our best to raise good humans while navigating everything else life hands us.

As a mom to two incredible, fierce future female leaders, I see how much they watch. How they absorb not just my words, but how I carry myself in the world. They see the early mornings and the late-night laptop glow. They hear the hard conversations and the ones where I advocate for others.

And I know — even when I get it wrong — they are learning what it means to lead with purpose, with presence, with confidence, and with kindness.

And let me be honest — there are days I feel like I’m doing none of it well.
There are moments I question everything.

But there are also moments — quiet, everyday ones — that remind me this is not about balance. It’s about becoming.

✨ It’s about being a role model.
✨ It’s about showing our kids that we can lead with compassion and conviction.
✨ It’s about giving ourselves the same grace we give to everyone else.

To the moms out there building businesses, guiding teams, changing industries, and raising the next generation — you’re not alone.

You are doing important, messy, powerful work — and it matters.
Because leadership doesn’t start in the boardroom.
It starts with a mother.

This is my wish for you this Mother’s Day:

💜 Clarity – when you feel pulled in every direction
💜 A village – when you need someone to lean on
💜 Pride – for how far you’ve come and how boldly you keep going
💜 Confidence – in the moments that feel like too much
💜 Love – freely given, fiercely held, and always enough

Happy Mother’s Day to those who mother and lead.
You are seen.
You are powerful.
And you are doing beautifully. 💜
