Coaching is More Than a Skill — It’s a Mindset

Over the past year, I’ve been on a journey through the ICF coaching certification process — a journey that has stretched me, challenged me, and most importantly, changed the way I show up as a leader, a colleague, a friend, and a mom.

When I first stepped into the Coaching Academy for Leaders, I was eager to learn new skills — frameworks, tools, and techniques to help others navigate change and growth. And while I certainly learned all of those things, what I didn’t expect was how much this experience would reshape my mindset.

Coaching, I’ve come to realize, is far more than a skillset — it’s a way of being.

It’s about creating space.
It’s about deep listening — the kind of listening that holds back advice and judgment and instead leans in with curiosity.
It’s about believing that the people you are sitting with already hold their own answers — and that your role is to walk alongside them, not lead them there.

This mindset shift has shown up not just in formal coaching conversations, but in everyday moments — with my teams, with my daughters, with friends and peers.

It’s impacted how I ask questions, how I hold silence, how I trust others to find their way.

“Through this journey, I’ve learned that being coach-like isn’t reserved for formal coaching sessions. It’s a way of showing up — with curiosity, presence, and a belief in the potential of others. And isn’t that exactly the kind of leadership we need more of?”

At EmpowHer Collective, we talk a lot about what it means to connect, lead, and inspire. What I’ve learned through this coaching journey is that some of the most powerful leadership moments happen when we step back, listen deeply, and create space for others to rise.

Coaching is about building confidence.
Coaching is about fostering connection.
Coaching is about empowering others to see what’s possible for themselves.

That’s what I want to create more of — in my work, in this community, and in the lives of the women I’m privileged to support.

This summer, I’ll be taking on a small number of 1:1 coaching clients. If you’re navigating a season of growth, change, or uncertainty — or if you’re simply feeling ready to invest in your own development — I’d love to connect.

Let’s have a conversation – start here. Let’s create space for what’s next.
